The only airport in Himachal with regular and affordable flights, Dharamshala is the most convenient way to fly into the state. Stopping by the picturesque cricket stadium en route the 6 kilometer cab ride to McLeod is enough to cover the touristy things to see in this city.
The Dalai Lama's city of residence is situated at an altitude of 6,831 feet (2,082 m). The mild weather, numerous cafés and natural viewpoints every few steps made this an obvious choice for the first week of WFH, exploring and getting accustomed to the hilly environment. It has a bustling main market with varied kinds of rather interesting shops.

The 6 kilometer Triund Trek (ht. 9,350 ft / 2,850 m) provides scenic views of the Kangra valley and snow-covered Dhauladhar ranges. The trek took around 5 hours and was quite tiring, but the views from the top made this the highlight of the entire trip. The setting sun's rays hitting the snowy peaks made them glisten in hues of orange, while the darkness of night brought a scintillating sight of the city lights along with the starry sky. Add to that a fun group of people, cozy tents and a bonfire, and this becomes something every person visiting Himachal should definitely try.
Bir is home to the world's 2nd highest Paragliding point, at an altitude of 7,874 feet (2,400 m). What was supposed to be a 2 hour visit turned into a 3 day wait due to bad weather, but the temporary restriction on the flying window was eventually lifted!
